St. Maria Goretti (1890-1902) Maria was a beautiful and holy farm girl. When she was twelve, a young man tried to rape her. When she resisted, yelling that it was a sin and that he would go to hell, he stabbed her fourteen times. Two days later, after forgiving him, she died. Her attacker later saw her in a vision and converted.
